East Cheshire Hospice's Christmas @Home Appeal: How Donations Make a Difference
Hospice @Home Christmas Appeal: Your Donation's Impact

East Cheshire Hospice has launched its annual Christmas @Home appeal, detailing exactly how public donations will directly support patients wishing to spend their final days in the comfort of their own homes.

The Power of Your Christmas Gift

The hospice has provided a clear wish list, illustrating the tangible impact of every contribution. A donation of £25 could fund crucial telephone calls offering emotional support to someone grieving during the festive season. Meanwhile, £60 is enough to fill the fuel tank of a Hospice @Home car, enabling nurses to travel to patients across the region.

Larger gifts can transform a family's experience. £150 could grant a patient's final wish to be at home for Christmas. For £260, a nurse can stay overnight, providing exhausted family members with the priceless gifts of rest and peace of mind. The most substantial listed donation, £595, covers the cost of the overnight Rapid Response nursing team, ensuring expert help is available at any hour.

Rising Demand for Compassionate Home Care

Since its introduction in 2017, the Hospice @Home service has seen a significant increase in demand. The programme allows individuals facing the end of life to choose where they receive care, with many opting for the familiarity of their own surroundings.

Service manager Tess Cleaver emphasised the core mission. "People facing the end of life should have the choice to receive care wherever they feel most comfortable," she said. "Our team of experienced specialist nurses and highly trained healthcare assistants are here to provide patients and their families with more choice, control and peace of mind."

Creating Precious Moments in Challenging Times

The specialist team focuses on enhancing quality of life and facilitating meaningful moments for patients and loved ones during an profoundly difficult period. Tess Cleaver, pictured with colleagues Gill Tomlinson and Joanne Helm, explained that the team's work is about more than medical care.

"Our team do everything they can to make precious moments possible," Cleaver stated, highlighting the compassionate ethos behind the appeal. The Christmas @Home campaign is now the central focus of the hospice's festive fundraising efforts.

To contribute to the appeal and support local families, donations can be made directly via the hospice's official website at www.eastcheshirehospice.org.uk/christmas-appeal-2025.
