Blythe Liggins Solicitors has raised an impressive £28,000 to support vital care for people with life-limiting illnesses. The Royal Leamington Spa-based law firm achieved the milestone through 13 years of participation in the annual Make A Will Week charity scheme.
Free Will Writing Drives Donations
During the most recent campaign in March, the team offered free will writing services for a week in exchange for donations, raising £2,015 by completing 18 wills. Since 2013, the firm has written over 200 wills for local individuals and couples to support The Myton Hospices.
Sponsorship and Community Support
In addition to the will-writing campaign, Blythe Liggins sponsors the annual Two Castles Run, which saw more than 70 participants this year. The firm’s ongoing commitment has contributed to the total £28,000 raised.
Voices from the Firm and Charity
Donna Bothamley, partner and head of wills and probate at Blythe Liggins, said: “We’re pleased to play our part in supporting The Myton Hospices and are proud to have taken part in Make A Will Week for the 13th year this year. Every donation we raise for The Myton Hospices supports its hard work to provide vital services and support for people living with a life-limiting illness, and their families, across Coventry and Warwickshire.” She added: “Our team doesn’t plan to slow down now, and we look forward to continuing to fundraise for the hospices whenever we can.”
Danielle Mooney, individual giving manager at The Myton Hospices, said: “It costs over £15 million every year to provide our services free of charge to our patients and their loved ones. As a charity, with less than 20 per cent of our funding coming from the NHS, we must raise more than £12 million this year.” She continued: “Make a Will Week raised a fantastic £19,000 in total to go towards that, and we appreciate the support of Blythe Liggins and other local solicitors who gave their time and support.”
Impact of the Fundraising
The funds raised help The Myton Hospices deliver essential services to patients and families across Coventry and Warwickshire. With less than 20% of funding from the NHS, the charity relies heavily on community support to cover its annual £15 million operating costs.
