Lincoln Family Business Raises £10,000 for Local Charities at Annual Ball

A long-established family business based in Lincoln has successfully raised an impressive £10,000 for three vital charities that support communities across Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. The Witham Group, a manufacturer of lubricants and paints, hosted its annual charity ball in January, bringing together staff, customers, and suppliers from across the United Kingdom for an evening dedicated to fundraising.

Successful Fundraising Event at DoubleTree by Hilton

The event took place at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Lincoln and featured both an auction and a raffle packed with generously donated prizes. The overwhelming generosity of all the guests in attendance helped achieve the remarkable five-figure fundraising total. The substantial sum has been carefully divided between three charities that were selected by the company as its official 'charities of the year' for this period.

Three Beneficiary Charities Making a Difference

The three organizations benefiting from this significant donation are:

  • Lincolnshire Rural Support Network (LRSN) – This charity provides essential health and emotional support services to Lincolnshire's farming and rural communities, offering a crucial lifeline during challenging times.
  • TOFS – This organization supports individuals born with rare oesophageal conditions and their families through dedicated research initiatives and practical assistance programs.
  • Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust – This conservation charity works tirelessly to protect natural habitats and manages nearly one hundred nature reserves across the entire county.

Charity Representatives Visit Witham Group Headquarters

Representatives from the beneficiary charities recently visited the company's head office in Lincoln to formally receive their allocated share of the funds. Managing director Nigel R Bottom expressed that the entire team had been genuinely overwhelmed by the extraordinary generosity demonstrated throughout the evening.

He stated: "Raising £10,000 stands as a true testament to the incredible community spirit embodied by our dedicated team, loyal suppliers, and valued customers. These three outstanding charities work tirelessly across both Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire, and we feel deeply honoured to support their important missions."

How the Donations Will Be Utilized

Diane Stephens from TOFS explained that the donation would make a tangible difference to families affected by these rare medical conditions. She detailed that babies born with oesophageal atresia and tracheo-oesophageal fistula often require immediate life-saving surgery and may experience ongoing health complications throughout their lives.

"We will put this money to excellent use by helping new parents cope with the day-to-day challenges that OA/TOF presents, while also supporting adults who are living with long-term complications associated with these conditions," she affirmed.

Emma Billings, corporate partnership co-ordinator at the Lincolnshire Rural Support Network, added: "We are absolutely thrilled with this very generous donation from the Witham Group team. These funds will directly help support the operational costs of our vital helpline, nursing staff, and front-line case workers as the demand for our essential services continues to grow significantly."

A further cheque presentation to the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust is scheduled to take place at a later date. The conservation charity plans to allocate the funds to support its educational centre at Whisby Nature Reserve and to facilitate the regeneration of Hawthorpe Reserve located in South Lincolnshire.

A Long-Standing Tradition of Giving

The Witham charity ball represents a long-standing tradition that began back in 1993, with the company having raised more than £150,000 for various good causes over the past three decades. This consistent commitment to charitable giving highlights the company's deep-rooted dedication to supporting the local communities in which it operates.
