Moya Cole Hospice, in collaboration with Global Adventures, is organizing an information evening to provide details about upcoming overseas treks scheduled for autumn 2026. The event aims to raise funds for the hospice's vital care services.
Event Details and Purpose
The information evening will be held at the Heald Green hospice on Thursday, February 26, starting at 6pm and lasting approximately one hour. This free event is designed to offer comprehensive insights into two exciting trekking adventures: the Inca Trail in Peru and the Spanish Three Peaks Trek in Sierra Nevada National Park.
Judith Baignet from Global Adventures will deliver a short presentation and answer questions from attendees. The treks serve as fundraising initiatives to support Moya Cole Hospice, which provides holistic care to patients with life-limiting illnesses across multiple sites in Heald Green, Stockport, and Little Hulton, Salford.
Spanish Three Peaks Trek Overview
The Spanish Three Peaks trek is a challenging hiking expedition in Sierra Nevada National Park. Participants will summit three of Spain's highest peaks: Veleta, Alcazaba, and Mulhacén. Notably, Mulhacén stands as Spain's highest peak at 3,482 meters. This trek is scheduled to take place from September 30 to October 4, 2026.
Inca Trail Trek Overview
The Inca Trail trek involves a journey to Peru for a multi-day hike that culminates at the iconic Machu Picchu. This adventure is set from October 30 to November 8, 2026, offering participants a unique opportunity to explore historical landscapes while contributing to a charitable cause.
Inspiring Past Participation
Tizzie Brass, who participated in an overseas trek in May 2025 to raise funds for Moya Cole Hospice in memory of her father, shared her experience. She undertook the Great Wall of China trek, available to 2025 participants, describing it as "unlike anything I’d ever experienced."
"When we landed in China, we were introduced to our tour guide, and suddenly we were in this completely unfamiliar place. It was overwhelming at first, but absolutely incredible," she added. Her story highlights the transformative potential of these fundraising adventures.
Hospice Services and Community Impact
Moya Cole Hospice delivers a range of essential services, including inpatient care, day therapy, and supportive outpatient services. The hospice teams also provide community and outreach services, such as the Hospice at Home service in Salford and Trafford, the Community Specialist Palliative Care Team in Salford, and a homelessness palliative care service in Manchester.
