The Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards with P&O Cruises has officially launched nominations for its 2026 edition, calling on the public to honour extraordinary individuals across the UK. Residents of Birmingham and the wider West Midlands are encouraged to nominate local heroes who demonstrate exceptional courage, kindness, and dedication to others.
Who Can Be Nominated?
The awards celebrate people from all walks of life, including brave children, lifesaving emergency workers, inspirational fundraisers, dedicated volunteers, and community champions. Winners are recognised for achievements that transform lives, strengthen communities, and inspire others through acts of selflessness and resilience.
Ceremony Details
The awards ceremony, hosted by Carol Vorderman MBE and Ashley Banjo MBE, will take place later this year and be broadcast in a prime-time ITV1 special. A panel of judges will select winners after reviewing nominations from across the UK.
Chloe Hubbard, Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Mirror, stated: "It is a privilege to be part of the Pride of Britain Awards for the first time this year. Every nominee deserves recognition, and all stories are important to share with the nation. The team will search every corner of the country for our 2026 winners, and I cannot wait to see the extraordinary unsung heroes we find."
Carol Vorderman, returning for her 27th year as host, praised the inspirational stories that emerge annually. "Every single year, the incredible winners inspire millions with their stories of courage, empathy, and bravery. At a time when division is spreading, the winners send a message of hope and bring people together across Britain."
Co-host Ashley Banjo described the awards as a "special and emotional night," providing an opportunity to celebrate people whose stories deserve national attention.
How to Nominate
Paul Ludlow, president of Carnival UK & P&O Cruises, emphasised that the awards shine a spotlight on those who selflessly give their time and energy to help others, often without seeking recognition. "Their stories are a powerful reminder of the positive difference one person can make."
Over the years, the Pride of Britain Awards have celebrated hundreds of remarkable people from communities across the UK, many of whom performed life-changing acts without expectation of praise. Now, organisers urge residents to nominate heroes from Birmingham, the Black Country, Coventry, Solihull, and the wider West Midlands.
Nominations for individuals, groups, or organisations can be submitted online via the Pride of Britain website.
