Black Country Pub Hosts Unique Food Dump Fundraiser for Easter
A Black Country pub is offering a quirky and entertaining way to support local charities this Easter. The Red Lion in Amblecote, Stourbridge, has announced a special event where customers can 'dump' food on their manager, Liam, for a small fee.
Fun for a Good Cause
For just £5 per turn, patrons can participate in this lighthearted activity, using items like beans, tomatoes, soup, and mushy peas. All proceeds from the event will be donated to three charities: the Mary Stevens Charity, Kids Orchard Centre, and the YMCA. The pub emphasized that these organizations are very close to their hearts.
The event, scheduled for April 5, is designed as a fun way to destress and engage the community. In a social media post, The Red Lion stated, "Everyone needs a way to destress. We could just ask for donations… but who would say no to throwing food over someone for fun? Especially Liam."
Sustainable and Supportive Initiative
To ensure sustainability, the pub noted that all food used in the fundraiser is either owned by the establishment or purchased items that would have been discarded anyway. This approach minimizes waste while maximizing charitable impact.
Located at Brettell Lane in Amblecote, The Red Lion aims to bring laughter and support to the local area through this creative event. The pub described Liam as a "wonderful manager" who is willing to take one for the team to help raise funds for important causes.
This initiative highlights how community venues can foster engagement and philanthropy in innovative ways, turning a simple idea into a meaningful contribution to society.
