A local resident is rallying the Rochdale community to support a brand-new initiative born out of a mother's resilience and love for her daughter.
Fundraiser Day and Summer Fair
On Saturday, June 6, a 'Together, We Can Create Change' Fundraiser Day and Summer Fair will take place at Rochdalians FC on Crompton Avenue, running from 12pm to 3pm. The event aims to raise vital funds and awareness for SRB (She Remains Brave), a newly formed Community Interest Company (CIC) with a powerful mission.
Currently operating as a CIC with the ultimate goal of achieving full charity status, SRB is dedicated to supporting survivors of sexual abuse and advocating for those whose voices are often overlooked — including autistic and neurodivergent individuals.
Vision for a Safe Space
The primary goal of the upcoming fundraiser is to help Becky secure a physical premises in the area. The vision is to open a unique, multi-purpose space: a boutique selling official SRB merchandise alongside a welcoming coffee shop. Most importantly, the shop is designed to serve as a designated 'safe space' where anyone in the community can come, have a chat, enjoy a coffee, and feel entirely welcome and supported.
Organiser's Motivation
An organiser of the fundraiser event explained the motivation behind the day: "I set this fundraiser up for this amazing lady, Becky, to try and raise funds to help with the shop, but to also raise more awareness for her initiative. We just want to get as much attention as possible toward the event, which will ultimately help SRB grow and thrive."
Summer Fair Attractions
The Summer Fair promises a great afternoon out for all families, featuring a wide variety of attractions:
- Charity Football Match: A thrilling game kicking off between Heyside FC and SRB FC.
- Food & Drink: A burger van serving hot food throughout the afternoon.
- Stalls & Attractions: A wide variety of stalls, entertainment, and much more.
