Access Self Storage Staff Complete 100km Relay for Cancer Research UK
Staff from Access Self Storage stores nationwide laced up their trainers on March 6, 2026, to participate in a collective 100km charity relay race, raising vital funds for Cancer Research UK. The event took place in London's Hyde Park as part of Self Storage Week 2026, a celebration highlighting the self storage industry and its charitable efforts.
Team Effort and Inclusivity
A team of 30 employees from across the UK network travelled to London for the challenge, demonstrating strong teamwork and shared commitment. Participants walked and jogged individual legs at their own pace, making the relay inclusive and accessible to staff of all fitness levels. Together, they covered the full 100 kilometres to support life-saving cancer research.
Symbolism and Community Impact
The relay format symbolises the collaborative spirit of Access Self Storage, with each participant contributing to the overall goal. Jan-Albert Fourie, general manager of operations at Access Self Storage, commented, "Taking on 100 kilometres as a team is a huge challenge, but it reflects exactly what we're about at Access, supporting one another and working together to achieve something meaningful. Cancer Research UK is a cause close to so many of us personally, and we're proud to be coming together from across our 57 stores to make every kilometre count."
Self Storage Week and Awareness
Self Storage Week aims to shine a light on the lesser-known self storage industry and its vital role for individuals, families, and businesses. This fundraiser activity also raises awareness of how the industry can contribute to community good. The event provided staff with an opportunity to connect with stores, communities, and causes, celebrating the people behind the storage industry.
