Stagecoach East Midlands Celebrates £3,200 Fundraising for Age UK
Stagecoach Raises £3,200 for Age UK in Year-Long Campaign

Stagecoach East Midlands, the bus operator serving Newark and Retford, along with Age UK, is celebrating a highly successful year of fundraising efforts across the region. The campaign has raised an impressive total of more than £3,200 to support the charity's vital work with older adults and their families.

Dedicated Fundraising by Stagecoach Teams

Over the past twelve months, the compassionate employees of Stagecoach East Midlands, including Bus Drivers, Engineers, Cleaners, and Support staff, have gone above and beyond to generate funds. They organized a variety of creative initiatives such as raffles, bake sales, and even sales of Cadbury Creme Eggs. These efforts were complemented by a direct donation of £1,000 from the company and nearly £700 raised through the launch of the popular Seasider Book.

Collaborative Efforts Across Depots

Every depot operated by Stagecoach East Midlands played a crucial role in this fundraising drive, with contributions flowing in from all locations, including the head office. The collective effort resulted in a grand total of £3,203.49 raised for Age UK across the East Midlands, showcasing the strong community spirit within the organization.

Enhancing Social Connections Through Grand Days Out

In addition to fundraising, Stagecoach East Midlands has partnered with Age UK to organize 'Grand Days Out' events. These included trips with Age UK Notts to Sherwood Observatory and with Age UK Hull and East Yorkshire to Normanby Hall. These fun day trips are designed to encourage local older residents to make new friends and explore points of interest in their area, fostering social connections and reducing loneliness.

Supporting Independent Living for Older Adults

The funds raised are expected to help Age UK Lincolnshire continue delivering essential support to individuals over 50 years old and their families throughout the county. The charity offers a wide range of practical assistance, trusted advice, and meaningful social activities aimed at promoting independent and confident living while combating isolation.

Leadership Praise for Team Efforts

Matt Cranwell, Managing Director of Stagecoach East Midlands, expressed his pride in the team's dedication. He stated, "I am so proud of my team who always go that extra mile to show their support for the outstanding work done by Age UK Lincolnshire. This is a natural partnership because an important part of our work is to help make it easy and enjoyable for older people to stay connected and active."

He further emphasized the role of public transport in community well-being, adding, "Our buses are a lifeline for so many, and we help to give older residents the confidence to get out there, meet people, and make the most of what's on their doorstep."

This initiative highlights the ongoing commitment of Stagecoach East Midlands to supporting local charities and enhancing the quality of life for older adults in the Newark and Retford areas through both financial contributions and community engagement activities.
