Treetops Hospice Unveils Robin Mascot, Seeks Public Help to Name It

Treetops Hospice Introduces New Robin Mascot and Calls for Public Naming Ideas

Treetops Hospice, based in Risley, Derbyshire, has proudly revealed its brand new mascot, a friendly robin character designed to represent the charity at various events and activities across the region. The hospice is now launching a public campaign to name the mascot, inviting supporters, families, and local residents to submit their creative suggestions.

Public Participation in Naming the Mascot

The naming contest encourages everyone to propose ideas, with a shortlist of names set to be selected and officially announced on Friday, March 27. Submissions can be made by commenting on the hospice's dedicated Facebook post, and the entry period will close on Monday, March 23. This initiative aims to foster community engagement and involve the public in the hospice's mission.

First Official Appearance and Symbolic Significance

The robin mascot will make its debut at Treetops Hospice's upcoming Easter Egg Hunt, scheduled for Saturday, April 4. During this event, visitors will have the opportunity to meet the character in person, take photos, and participate in festive activities. The choice of a robin as the mascot holds deep symbolic meaning, as many people associate robins with hope and as reminders of loved ones who have passed away. In Celtic tradition, the bird's distinctive red breast is linked to themes of warmth and protection, reflecting the hospice's compassionate work in providing end-of-life nursing care, bereavement support, counselling, and complementary therapies for both adults and children.

She added, "We can't wait to hear some of the names that people put forward." This initiative not only highlights the hospice's commitment to community involvement but also underscores its dedication to offering comfort and support during difficult times.

The introduction of the robin mascot marks a significant step in Treetops Hospice's efforts to raise awareness and connect with the local community through engaging and symbolic representation.
