A team of volunteers from Norwich-based housebuilder Barratt and David Wilson Homes Anglia recently revitalised the garden of a residential care home in Dereham. The staff spent a full day sanding, painting, and installing structural beams to prepare the outdoor space and summer house at Autism Anglia’s Walnut House on Norwich Road for residents to enjoy this summer.
Transformation at Walnut House
Walnut House, operated by Autism Anglia, provides specialised residential care and accommodation for up to five adults living with learning disabilities and primary diagnoses of autism. The volunteering day was part of Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ commitment to supporting Autism Anglia as its Charity of the Year, following a series of fundraising initiatives between January 2025 and June 2026.
Community Impact
Anna Rogers, community fundraising and engagement manager at Autism Anglia, said: “It was lovely to welcome the team from Barratt and David Wilson Homes to Walnut House and see the transformation take place. The generosity of their staff team’s time along with materials supplied by their trade contacts has really lifted the space and created somewhere our residents can be proud to use.”
Autism Anglia delivers personalised support and services for autistic people and their families across Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex. The charity works to create a more inclusive society where autistic individuals are understood, supported and empowered to achieve their full potential.
Commitment to Support
Simon Wood, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Anglia, said: “We were delighted to continue our support for Autism Anglia and help improve the outdoor facilities at Walnut House. Our team really enjoyed getting involved and making a positive difference to a space that residents can enjoy together throughout the year. Community support is incredibly important to us and we are proud to work alongside organisations like Autism Anglia that provide such valuable care and support to people across the region.”
