A local woman has gone the extra mile to support children with cerebral palsy after completing the AJ Bell Manchester Half Marathon in aid of the charity Stick ‘n’ Step.
Amy Clark, from Eastham, Wirral, took on the 13.1-mile challenge to raise vital funds for the charity, which helps children with cerebral palsy build independence, confidence, and strength. So far, Amy has raised an impressive £1,100, with donations still coming in.
Amy decided to run in support of Stick ‘n’ Step after seeing first hand the life-changing impact of its work. Through her role working with children, she has supported several young people who attend the charity’s conductive education sessions and has witnessed their remarkable progress.
Amy said: “I’ve seen just how much of a difference Stick ‘n’ Step makes. The support the charity provides is incredible, and the confidence and strength the children develop is truly inspiring. I wanted to give something back to a charity that changes lives every single day.”
Amy has worked closely with Sophie, aged eight, who lives in Holmes Chapel, supporting her one-to-one at school and helping coach her football at CP United. Experiences like this reinforced her determination to take on the half marathon challenge.
Stick ‘n’ Step supports children across the North West with cerebral palsy, providing specialist sessions that develop mobility skills, independence, and self-belief, helping each child reach their full potential. Amy’s fundraising efforts will help ensure that more children and families can benefit from the charity’s services.
Tania Oliveira, regional fundraiser for Stick ‘n’ Step, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to Amy for her dedication and commitment. Fundraisers like her make such a difference, helping us continue to provide essential support to children with cerebral palsy and their families.”
Amy hopes her efforts will raise awareness as well as funds for the charity, encouraging others to get involved and support its vital work. Donations to Amy’s fundraising page are still welcome: Amy Clark is fundraising for Stick 'N' Step.
Stick ‘n’ Step provides weekly conductive education sessions to children and young people with cerebral palsy up to the age of 25. The charity relies on supporters and volunteers to help raise over 90 per cent of the £750,000 required to deliver its services to over 100 families each year at its Wallasey and Runcorn centres.
