Knutsford Runners Secures £500 Grant for New Leader Training
Knutsford Runners Gets £500 Grant for Leader Training

A popular local running club is celebrating after securing a funding boost from the town council. Knutsford Runners has received £500 to support the training and development of new leaders within the group.

Funding for Qualifications

The money will go towards two qualifications to help the club expand its volunteer-led sessions for members. This support will allow the group to welcome more people as its membership base continues to grow.

Inclusive Running Opportunities

The friendly club aims to provide welcoming and inclusive opportunities for runners of all abilities to improve their fitness. Members currently meet twice a week for continuous runs on Mondays and interval training sessions on Wednesdays. All the routes are designed to suit a range of abilities, and everyone is encouraged to run at their own pace.

Couch to 5K Success

The club recently completed its first Couch to 5K programme, which turned out to be a huge success. Participants built their confidence, improved their wellbeing, and formed wonderful new friendships along the way. As well as promoting physical fitness, the club recognises the importance of mental health and social connection.

Gratitude from the Club

Jo Lenderyou of Knutsford Runners said: “Knutsford Runners are incredibly grateful to the Town Council for supporting our new running club with this grant. Funding two new Leader in Running Fitness qualifications will help us continue to grow our club. We became affiliated to England Athletics earlier this year and by having more qualified leaders we can ensure we can offer a wide range of running groups for all abilities at each session.”

Community Impact

By investing in volunteer training, the club will be able to increase the number and variety of sessions it offers. This ensures that local runners can participate safely while supporting a healthier and better-connected community.

Community Grant Scheme

The money was awarded through the town council’s Community Grant Scheme, which provides grants of up to £1,500. The scheme prioritises projects that support young people and older residents, as well as those enhancing community life.
