Annington has supported William Farr Secondary School in Scampton, Lincolnshire, with a donation towards their memorial garden, honouring the history of the school grounds.
Donation and Volunteer Efforts
Annington contributed more than £600 worth of plants to help restore the green space, while contractors Savanna and Alistair Hand, who are working on the Penrose Field development located less than 10 minutes away, gave their time to assist the school in breathing new life into this much-loved area. Together, they planted five silver birch trees, 30 shrubs, and 100 bedding plants, transforming it into a peaceful space for students and staff to enjoy.
Head Teacher's Appreciation
Grant Edgar, Head Teacher of William Farr Secondary School, said: “Our memorial gardens honour the heritage of our school, which was built on the former World War Two bomber station RAF Dunholme Lodge. Now, 74 years after the school was opened in 1952, it’s important we continue to remember the rich history of the grounds and honour those stationed at the base who served and died during the war as well as a remembrance area honouring the students we have lost. Having the extra help from Annington to revive the garden is much appreciated and will provide us with a place for reflection and remembrance for years to come. I look forward to seeing the trees and plants bloom over the warmer months.”
Marketing Manager's Comments
Stacy Whitehead, Marketing Manager at Annington, said: “Our Site Managers, Savanna and Alistair were more than happy to play a part in restoring the memorial gardens, which we hope offers a calm oasis in a busy school campus. With such an important legacy, we wanted to provide something lasting to the local community who have welcomed us while we have been here.”
