Rossendale Men's Shed Thrives with Dozens of Members

The Rossendale Men's Shed, a community workshop based at Haslingden Community Link, is celebrating a major wave of success after attracting dozens of regular members since reopening in February 2026. The project has quickly become a vital support hub for people across the Valley, bringing together more than 20 regular members to learn new skills and build friendships.

Open Three Days a Week for Connection and Skills

The Shed is open every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10am until 4pm, offering a safe and welcoming space for adults to connect. While woodworking is a core activity, members frequently drop in just to enjoy a hot brew, a friendly chat, and a sense of belonging.

Community Projects Give Back

The group has already completed a wide range of meaningful projects to give back to the local neighbourhood. Recent builds include birdhouses for Rossendale Youth Zone sessions, potting tables for Newchurch St Nicholas Primary School, and custom planters for residents. The talented team has also officially relaunched the Haslingden Repair Café to help local residents fix broken household items instead of sending them to landfill.

Inclusive Environment for All

Project Coordinator Kris Corps said: “One of the things I'm most proud of is that people don't have to be good at woodworking to come along. Some people build, some people plan, some people make brews and some just enjoy having somewhere to belong. The important thing is that everyone is welcome. The Shed has become a place where people can connect, learn something new and support one another whilst giving something back to the community.”

Donations and Upgrades Boost Capacity

The initiative continues to thrive thanks to generous donations, local support, and partnerships with nearby schools and businesses. The team celebrated another great milestone this week after having a brand new towbar fitted to the group's vehicle. Combined with recent trailer donations from local supporters, the upgrade will allow the team to collect large materials and deliver community projects much easier.

Future Plans to Expand Volunteer Base

Looking to the future, the group has ambitious plans to grow its volunteer base and create even more opportunities for people to get involved. Anyone who would like to find out more details about the workshop can visit the team at Haslingden Community Link or follow their official Facebook page.
