Stapleford Community Group Celebrates 15 Years of Service and Support
Stapleford Community Group Marks 15 Years of Support

Approaching its 15th anniversary, Stapleford Community Group has spent more than a decade supporting local people, organizing community projects, and collaborating with organizations across Nottinghamshire and beyond.

Origins and Evolution

Founded in 2011, the group was originally established to connect local residents with practical support, volunteering opportunities, and employment resources. Over the years, it has expanded to include a wide range of projects that assist residents, charities, community organizations, and local initiatives.

Key Projects and Partnerships

One of the group's longest-running initiatives is the Stapleford Job Fair, which has been organized for approximately 13 years. Held twice annually, the event brings together employers, training providers, charities, and support organizations to help individuals find employment, training, and volunteering opportunities. The job fair regularly attracts visitors not only from Stapleford but also from surrounding towns and cities.

Stapleford Community Group has also supported 18 foodbanks across Broxtowe over the years, while assisting organizations in Nottingham City, Derby City, and Birmingham City through donations, partnership work, and community support initiatives.

For more than a decade, the organization has supported Shoe Aid by hosting local footwear collection points in Stapleford and Sandiacre, providing shoes for people facing hardship. Another significant partnership is with the Royal British Legion. Each year, the group supports the Poppy Appeal, raising many thousands of pounds to support veterans, serving personnel, and their families.

The group has also organized and supported numerous community activities, including seasonal events, family support projects, volunteer initiatives, food support, local awareness campaigns, and community celebrations.

Current Operations and Anniversary Celebration

Today, many of the organization's activities are based at the 5&2 Community Centre in Montrose Court, Stapleford, which serves as a hub for community activities, support projects, and local events. The group's birthday celebration will take place at the 5&2 Community Centre, Montrose Court, Stapleford, NG9 8LJ, on Saturday, June 13, from 1pm.

The Mayor of Broxtowe and the Mayor of Stapleford have both been invited to attend. Stapleford Community Group would love to see many of the organizations, volunteers, and individuals who have supported or been supported by the group over the years come along and help celebrate this milestone.

Fifteen years on, the organization continues to support projects, charities, and local people across Stapleford and far beyond the town itself.
