£20k cocaine haul found after Tamworth car stop

Police officers in Staffordshire have seized a significant quantity of drugs with an estimated street value of £20,000 following a routine vehicle stop in Tamworth.

Major Bust Follows Proactive Stop

The discovery was made by the force's Major and Organised Crime team on the afternoon of Wednesday, December 17. At around 4pm, officers stopped a car and conducted searches on both the driver and a passenger.

During the initial search, police found a quantity of suspected cocaine and two mobile phones. The vehicle was immediately seized as part of the investigation.

Properties Searched in Two Counties

Following the car stop, detectives executed follow-up warrants at two addresses. One property was located in Tamworth itself, while a second was in neighbouring Warwickshire.

These subsequent searches yielded a much larger haul. Officers recovered approximately £20,000-worth of cocaine, numerous nitrous oxide cannisters – often referred to as laughing gas – and a range of drug paraphernalia.

Two Men Arrested on Multiple Charges

As a result of the operation, two men were taken into custody. A 55-year-old man from the Tamworth area faces a series of serious allegations.

He has been arrested on suspicion of:

  • Possession with intent to supply Class A drugs (cocaine)
  • Possession with intent to supply another Class A drug
  • Drug driving
  • Driving without a licence
  • Driving without insurance

A 31-year-old man from the Luton area was also arrested. He is suspected of being concerned in the supply of cocaine and possession with intent to supply the same Class A drug.

Both men remain in police custody while enquiries continue, confirmed a spokesperson for Staffordshire Police.

The force's proactive operation highlights its ongoing focus on targeting organised criminal activity and drug supply networks within the region.
