Police have arrested a 46-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder following a serious assault near New Street Station in Birmingham city centre.
The victim, a man in his 50s, was discovered with serious injuries on Navigation Street at approximately 6.40am on Saturday, August 15. He was taken to hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.
The arrest came after West Midlands Police launched an investigation and set up a cordon around the area, causing traffic diversions.
Arrest and Investigation
West Midlands Police confirmed the arrest in a statement: "We've arrested a suspect after a man was found with serious injuries in Birmingham city centre. A man in his 50s was discovered in Navigation Street after being assaulted at just before 6.40am on Saturday. He remains in a serious condition in hospital. Following enquiries we have detained a 46-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder and he is currently in custody for questioning."
The suspect remains in custody for questioning as the investigation continues.

Navigation Street was closed off while emergency services dealt with the incident, with traffic being diverted around the cordon.
Road Reopened
The road reopened later on Saturday, allowing traffic to flow normally again.
West Midlands Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the assault, and anyone with information is urged to contact them.
