A man suspected of being involved in a brutal attack on a quad bike rider in Birmingham remains on the run almost a year after the incident. Detectives have launched multiple appeals to locate Jafir Nazir, and a £5,000 reward has been offered for information leading to his capture.
The Attack
The assault occurred on Monica Road in Small Heath last August at around 6pm. The victim, who was riding a quad bike, was pushed to the ground and repeatedly slashed in the head with a flick knife, leaving him seriously injured.
Another man, Taylor Burns, 26, has already been sentenced to six and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to section 18 wounding with intent and possession of a knife. It is alleged that Burns and Nazir pulled up in the road before launching the attack.
Ongoing Search
While Burns is behind bars, Nazir has evaded capture. His whereabouts remain unknown, and police continue to appeal for information.
Detective Sergeant Ian Leech from West Midlands Police said in March: “The victim of this awful attack continues to recover from his injuries. It’s important that we speak to Nazir in connection with this incident. I would appeal to anyone who has any information on where Nazir is to get in touch.”
Alan Edwards, West Midlands Regional Manager at the charity Crimestoppers, which put up the £5,000 reward, said: “A violent crime has left a man seriously injured and Jafir Nazir remains wanted in connection with this horrific attack. We know some people may find it hard to speak directly to the police, and that’s why Crimestoppers offers a completely anonymous alternative way to share what you know. You can tell us what you know, without ever giving your name or any personal details. We’ll pass on your information so Nazir can be found and brought to justice.”
