Police have launched a public appeal for information following a distraction burglary in Coventry, where a man reportedly posed as a gardener to gain access to a property.
CCTV image released in investigation
West Midlands Police issued the appeal on December 27, sharing a CCTV image of a man they urgently wish to speak to in connection with the incident. Authorities acknowledged the photograph is not the clearest but maintain it could be vital to their investigation.
The force confirmed that extensive CCTV trawls have already been conducted in the area but, so far, they have been unable to identify the suspect.
Details of the Sewall Highway incident
The burglary occurred at an address on Sewall Highway, Coventry, at approximately 3pm on Friday, December 13. According to police reports, a man attended the property and purported to be a gardener.
During the encounter, a handbag was stolen from the home. This type of crime, commonly known as a distraction burglary, involves offenders deceiving residents to gain entry under false pretences before stealing items.
