Dudley Stalker Sentenced to Prison for Harassment Campaign

A Dudley man has been imprisoned after a stalking campaign that involved sending unwanted messages and appearing at his victim's home and workplace. Christian Leipacher, aged 52, received a sentence of two years and four months at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Friday, February 20.

Unwanted Contact Escalates to Physical Presence

Between August and September of last year, Leipacher sent a series of unsolicited messages and emails to the victim. This harassment escalated when he began turning up outside her residence and her place of employment. The situation became so severe that the victim was forced to flee from work and report the incidents to Staffordshire Police.

During police questioning, Leipacher denied the stalking allegations. However, detectives meticulously gathered evidence to build a strong case against him, leading to his eventual charge.

Court Outcome and Restraining Order

Leipacher pleaded guilty to stalking involving serious alarm or distress. In addition to the prison term, the court imposed an indefinite restraining order, which prohibits him from contacting the victim in any manner.

Detective Constable Rachel Cope of Staffordshire Police commented on the case, stating, “I’m pleased we’ve been able to secure this outcome for the victim despite the offender’s attempts to deny any wrongdoing. His actions have caused a great deal of alarm and distress, which has been rightfully recognized in court.”

Police Efforts and Public Safety Message

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police emphasized the dedication of the officers involved, noting that they worked tirelessly to compile evidence despite Leipacher's denials. The force highlighted the importance of reporting such incidents promptly to ensure perpetrators are held accountable.

This case underscores the serious consequences of stalking and harassment, with the legal system taking firm action to protect victims and prevent further harm.
