Twenty firefighters were called to a large shed fire in a Birmingham street during the early hours of Bank Holiday Monday. The blaze, which broke out in back gardens, had begun to affect nearby properties, according to the fire service.

Incident Details

West Midlands Fire Service received multiple calls reporting a fire in Comberton Road, Sheldon, at around 4am on May 4. Four fire crews were dispatched to the scene, including two from Sheldon, one from Hay Mills, and one from Ward End.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Fire Service said: 'We received calls at 4am, four reports of a shed fire. We sent four crews to the scene from Sheldon, Hay Mills, and Ward End. The incident involved four sheds on fire.'

Firefighters used breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, one ladder, and working at height equipment to tackle the blaze. The fire had started to affect the properties, but crews managed to extinguish it and confirmed that no homes were damaged.

The fire service posted on social media shortly before 4.30am, advising people to avoid the area. Flames and smoke could be seen billowing from behind a row of houses. Crews left the scene at 5.46am.
