Humberside Police have successfully identified a man whose skeletal remains were discovered inside a tent in Hull late last year.
Discovery and Initial Response
The grim discovery was made by a member of the public on Thursday, 11 December 2025. The individual came across a tent containing human remains in the Melwood Grove area of the city. Officers were swiftly called to the scene, where they established a police cordon to allow for a detailed forensic investigation to begin.
Formal Identification and Family Support
Following extensive enquiries, detectives have now confirmed the identity of the man. In a statement, Detective Chief Inspector Ben Robinson said the man's family had been informed and were receiving support from specially trained officers.
"Following these initial enquiries, we can now confirm that the remains are believed to be those of one man who has now been identified," DCI Robinson stated.
Appeal for Information Continues
Despite the identification, police are continuing their efforts to piece together the full circumstances. A post-mortem examination has been conducted, and at this stage, the death is not being treated as suspicious.
However, investigators are urging anyone with information to come forward. DCI Robinson added: "Enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances, and we would ask anyone who has any information that could assist our enquiries to please contact our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 453 of 11 December."
The case highlights the ongoing work of police in resolving such complex and sensitive discoveries within the community.
