Katie Price Faces Seventh Driving Ban After Ignoring Police Letters
Former glamour model Katie Price has been banned from driving for the seventh time in her troubled motoring history. The latest disqualification comes after she failed to respond to police correspondence regarding an 80mph speeding ticket.
Latest Offence on North Yorkshire Road
Price's most recent encounter with law enforcement stems from an incident where a Ford Capri registered in her name was captured traveling at 80mph on the A64 near Stutton, North Yorkshire. North Yorkshire Police sent letters to her West Sussex residence on October 20 and November 10 last year, requesting confirmation of whether she was driving the vehicle during the speeding violation.
The 47-year-old television personality received no response to either police communication, leading to her conviction for failing to provide driver information. This resulted in a six-month driving ban and financial penalties totaling £1,044, including a £660 fine, £120 court costs, and a £264 victim surcharge.
Extensive History of Driving Offences
Price's cumulative driving bans now exceed six years since her first disqualification in 2010. Her motoring record includes:
- A six-month ban in December 2010 for speeding
- A one-year disqualification in 2012 for ignoring speeding tickets
- Another six-month ban in February 2018 for speeding
- A three-month ban in January 2019 for driving while disqualified
- An 18-month road ban in 2019 for failing to identify a driver after a crash
- A two-year ban in 2021 for drink-driving while disqualified and uninsured
During her 2021 court appearance, a judge described Price's driving record as "one of the worst I have ever seen" and sentenced her to a 16-week suspended prison term alongside the driving ban.
Secret Court Proceedings
The latest conviction was processed through the Single Justice Procedure, a confidential court system where magistrates handle cases privately. Due to this secretive nature, it remains unknown whether Price had opportunity to contest the driving ban or if the court was aware of her extensive previous convictions.
Magistrate Claire Sagar presided over the case at Harrogate Magistrates' Court, where the original speeding charge was withdrawn by police, leaving only the failure-to-respond conviction.
Financial and Legal Troubles
Beyond her driving offences, Price has faced significant financial challenges in recent years. She has undergone bankruptcy proceedings in both 2019 and 2024, with a court order requiring debt repayment until February 2027. During an October hearing last year, a judge instructed her to reduce her "extravagant pattern of expenditure" as nearly half her monthly income was allocated to creditors.
Price acknowledged on a podcast last year that her numerous driving convictions have made obtaining car insurance increasingly difficult. The mother-of-five, previously married to popstar Peter Andre, continues to navigate both civil and criminal legal systems as she manages her various legal and financial obligations.
