A man has been charged with several driving offences after police recovered a suspected stolen car in Birmingham over the weekend, leading to his arrest and remand into custody.
Police Pursuit Leads to Arrest
West Midlands Police officers spotted the vehicle in the Edgbaston area on Saturday, initiating a brief pursuit that culminated on Longleat Avenue. The car was brought to a stop, and 34-year-old Humza Hussain Asif was detained while searches were conducted.
Charges and Court Appearance
Following the investigation, the car was confirmed to have been stolen a month earlier. Asif, a resident of Bordesley Green, has been charged with driving without insurance, driving whilst disqualified, possessing false identity documents, and handling stolen goods. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court today.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police stated, "The car was confirmed to have been stolen last month, and the man was arrested. Humza Hussain Asif has now been charged with driving without insurance, driving whilst disqualified, possessing false identity documents, and handling stolen goods. The 34-year-old from Bordesley Green was remanded in custody and is set to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court today."
