West Midlands Police are investigating after a man in his 60s was stabbed by a group of masked men in Alum Rock, Birmingham, late Tuesday night. The attack occurred on St Saviour's Road just before midnight on July 7, prompting a large emergency response including police, ambulance crews, and a drone team.
Attack Details and Police Response
The victim was attacked by several men described as Asian and wearing masks. Police and paramedics rushed to the scene, and officers remained throughout the night conducting forensic examinations and reviewing CCTV footage. Door-to-door inquiries are also underway to gather witness accounts.
No Link to Previous Shooting
Detective Chief Inspector Jim Mahon of Birmingham Police confirmed that there is currently no evidence connecting this stabbing to the shooting of a 16-year-old on Bowyer Road on July 1. He stated, “There is currently nothing to suggest any connection with any other recent incidents in the area, but we are keeping an open mind about the motivation for what has happened.”
Community Reassurance and Appeal
DCI Mahon added, “We understand this is worrying for people in the area, and local officers will be remaining there to speak to anyone with concerns over the coming days. Our priority is identifying those responsible and bringing them into custody as quickly as possible.”
