Police have launched an urgent manhunt following the alleged rape of two teenage girls on a popular beach in Great Yarmouth. One man is already in custody, while officers are searching for a second suspect.
Incident Details
Norfolk Police were called to South Beach Parade, Great Yarmouth, just after 12:30 AM on Saturday, 16 May 2026. Reports indicated that two teenagers had been raped on the beach. Officers attended the scene and established a cordon, which has since been lifted.
Arrest and Ongoing Search
A man in his 30s was arrested in Northamptonshire on Sunday, 17 May 2026, on suspicion of rape. He remains in custody at King’s Lynn Police Investigation Centre for questioning. Police are now searching for a second suspect, described as a white man with short dark hair, facial hair, aged in his 30s or 40s. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a dark green jacket with a white stripe on both sleeves.

Chief Inspector Nick Paling, district commander for Great Yarmouth, said: “We recognise how shocking and distressing these incidents are for the victims, their families, and the wider community. Specialist officers have been deployed to support both girls as we work through this investigation. There will be an increased police presence in the area, with officers carrying out reassurance patrols. Please do approach them if you have any concerns or information.”
