Manhunt for Hit-and-Run Driver After Birmingham Dad Dies

A manhunt is ongoing in Birmingham after a devastating hit-and-run crash claimed the life of a young father. Thomas Brown, 29, was cycling on Heath Way in Hodge Hill on Sunday, April 26, at approximately 7:45 PM when a car struck him. He was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Selly Oak in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries three days later.

Family's Grief and Appeal

Thomas leaves behind his partner Emma and their young son Riley. A GoFundMe page established by his family to cover funeral expenses has raised over £1,300. Tobi Brown, Thomas's father, shared: "My son Thomas was in an accident by the Hunters Moon pub on Sunday, April 26 at 7.45pm. A car mounted the pavement, knocking him off his bike. He unfortunately died on Wednesday, April 29 from his catastrophic injuries. He was 29 and leaves behind a partner Emma and a little boy Riley. Please help with any donation you can to help with funeral costs."

Police Investigation

Officers recovered the vehicle involved, believed to have been stolen, but have yet to locate the driver. A force spokesman stated: "No arrests at this stage. Enquiries are ongoing." Detective Sergeant Adam Alcock, from West Midlands Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "We have specialist officers supporting the man's family during this very difficult time. We're appealing for people who may have information which can assist us to please get in touch. Collisions on the road have devastating consequences and my priority is to get answers for his family. I know from CCTV that there were other cars and witnesses at the location at the time of the collision and I would appeal for those people to make contact with us."
