West Midlands Police have launched a manhunt after petrol bombs were thrown at a row of expensive cars, including a Lamborghini and a McLaren, outside the Royal Shalimar wedding venue in Highgate Road, Sparkbrook. The attack occurred at around 8.30pm on Wednesday, August 19, as a wedding was said to be taking place inside.
Two cars set alight in Sparkbrook attack
According to West Midlands Police, two vehicles were set on fire during the incident. Three men were seen fleeing the scene down nearby Mole Street before getting into a white Volkswagen Golf and driving off. No injuries were reported.
A force spokesperson said: "An investigation has been launched after two cars were set on fire in Sparkbrook last night. At around 8.30pm, we were called to Royal Shalimar on Highgate Road. Three men were spotted running down Mole Street before getting into a white Volkswagen golf and driving off. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. We have been speaking to witnesses and reviewing CCTV as part of our investigation."
Fire service response and vehicle details
A spokesperson for West Midlands Fire Service told BirminghamLive: "Shortly after 8.30pm on Wednesday, August 19, we responded to Highgate Road, Birmingham. A fire engine from Highgate station attended, after two vehicles were deliberately set alight. One vehicle was made safe by firefighters. No one was trapped or injured. Police colleagues were also in attendance. We left this incident at 9.07pm."
The petrol bombs were launched near a row of high-value cars, including a Lamborghini and a McLaren, parked outside the venue. The wedding was reportedly taking place at the time of the attack.

West Midlands Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them by calling 101 and quoting log 5308 of August 18. Information can also be shared anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. The investigation continues with officers reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses.
