Police Storm Birmingham and Walsall Homes, Shut Down 'China Drug Line'

In a dramatic early morning operation, West Midlands Police's County Lines Taskforce executed coordinated raids across Birmingham and Walsall, resulting in four arrests and the disruption of a significant drug supply network known as the 'China line'.

Early Morning Raids Target Drug Operations

The operation unfolded with raids at two addresses in Handsworth, Birmingham, on Putney Road and Crompton Road. At these locations, officers arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of involvement in the supply of Class-A drugs. Simultaneously, police stopped a vehicle on Richard Street in Walsall, where two men, aged 20 and 48, were detained and searched. Both were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class-A drugs, with the younger suspect also held for allegedly assaulting a police officer and possessing an offensive weapon.

Significant Seizures Made During Operation

During the raids, police recovered a substantial quantity of Class-A drugs, believed to be heroin, along with a large amount of cash, a rambo knife, and multiple mobile phones linked to drug dealing activities. A third property on Walsall Road in Walsall was also targeted, leading to the arrest of a 46-year-old man on similar drug supply suspicions. All four men remain in custody for questioning as the investigation continues.

Police Statement on the Disruption

Detective Inspector Mark Robinson commented on the operation, stating, 'This was a significant drugs operation known as the 'China line' which operated across a large part of Birmingham trading in Class-A drugs. We've arrested four people this morning in connection with the drugs line.' He added that PD Lucky, the police drugs dog, assisted in searches at the addresses. Robinson emphasized the force's commitment, saying, 'We will continue to work around the clock to disrupt drugs networks across the West Midlands.'

The operation highlights ongoing efforts by West Midlands Police to combat drug-related crime and protect communities from the harms associated with illegal substances.
