Solihull Crime Falls After Patrol Crackdown on Theft and Burglary
Solihull Crime Falls After Patrol Crackdown on Theft

Crime rates in Solihull are continuing to decline, with new figures revealing substantial reductions in key offence categories over the past year. Theft from person offences have fallen by 17%, while theft from motor vehicles has decreased by 15% compared to the previous year.

Police Patrols Drive Down Theft

West Midlands Police attribute these reductions, recorded between April 2025 and March 2026, to sustained efforts by officers and partners targeting offenders through increased patrols in hotspot areas. The force highlighted the case of Brayden Page, who was jailed after stealing over £340,000 worth of vehicles in just two months. Page pleaded guilty to eight burglary offences and 13 theft of motor vehicle offences committed across the West Midlands, including Solihull, Oldbury, Staffordshire, and Leicestershire, between April and May last year.

Additionally, a prolific burglar received a nine-year prison sentence after admitting to 14 theft of motor vehicle offences. These results are part of broader police work across the West Midlands to cut crime and enhance community safety.

Community Impact and Ongoing Efforts

Chief Superintendent Rich Harris, Commander of Solihull Local Policing Area, stated: “These reductions show the impact of the work being carried out by our officers and staff every day across Solihull. We know theft offences can have a significant impact on victims, whether that’s personal belongings being stolen or vehicles being targeted. That’s why we remain focused on proactive policing, identifying and arresting offenders, and working with our partners and local communities to prevent crime before it happens.”

While acknowledging the encouraging results, Harris emphasized there is always more to do. The force remains committed to making Solihull an even safer place to live, work, and visit.

Residents Urged to Stay Vigilant

Residents are encouraged to continue reporting suspicious activity and to take simple precautions to protect themselves and their property, such as keeping valuables out of sight and ensuring vehicles are locked and secure. Police will continue working across Solihull to build on this progress and tackle the crimes that matter most to the community.
