A teenager has admitted possessing explosive substances and threatening to bomb a college in the Midlands. Jagger Strang, 18, from Stafford, was due to stand trial for nine offences at Leicester Crown Court on Wednesday, May 6. However, he pleaded guilty to seven charges on the day of his trial.
Charges Admitted
Strang admitted possession of explosive substances, including gunpowder and thermite. He also confessed to accessing YouTube videos that provided instructions on manufacturing black powder and constructing a detonator from improvised materials. Additionally, he pleaded guilty to making threats to kill peers at Stafford College and threatening to set off a bomb there in September last year.
Basis of Plea
The court heard that Strang pleaded guilty on the basis that he had no intention to build a bomb. Prosecutors accepted the pleas and confirmed they would not proceed with a trial for the remaining charges.
The judge, Mr Justice Wall, stated that sentencing would take place on June 29 at Birmingham Crown Court.
