West Midlands Police have launched an appeal for information after a 15-year-old boy was struck by a bicycle in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter, leaving him with serious injuries.
Incident Details
The collision occurred on Monday, 17 March, at approximately 4:30 PM on Vyse Street, near the junction with Hockley Street. The teenager was walking when he was hit by a cyclist who fled the scene without stopping to offer assistance or provide details.
Emergency services attended and the boy was taken to hospital with a fractured elbow and cuts to his face. He has since been discharged and is recovering at home.
Police Investigation
Officers are examining CCTV footage from the area and are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage to come forward. The cyclist is described as a white male, aged around 30 to 40 years old, with a medium build and short dark hair. He was riding a black mountain bike and wearing a dark jacket and jeans.
Sergeant Mark Thompson of West Midlands Police said: "This was a distressing incident for the young victim and his family. The cyclist had a duty to stop and provide information, and we are determined to trace him. We appeal to anyone who saw what happened or recognises the description to contact us."
