Teens arrested after £4k bike stolen in Lye crash

Police in the West Midlands are appealing for witnesses after a young man was seriously injured and his high-value electric bike stolen in what is being treated as a robbery.

Serious Injuries Sustained in Cemetery Road Incident

The incident occurred on Cemetery Road in Lye at around 7:50pm on Sunday, 14 December. According to West Midlands Police, the 21-year-old victim was knocked from his black and green Surron Lightbee electric bike by a Honda Civic.

The collision left the man with serious injuries to his wrists and back. In a further distressing turn, his electric bike, valued at around £4,000, was taken from the scene.

Three Teenagers Arrested and Bailed

Following the robbery, officers arrested three teenagers on suspicion of robbery. The trio consists of two 17-year-olds and a 15-year-old.

All three have since been released on bail with conditions while police enquiries continue. Investigators have confirmed that the stolen Surron Lightbee electric bike has been recovered.

Police Appeal for Public Assistance

Detectives are now urging anyone with information to come forward to help piece together the full sequence of events. A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said the force is keen to speak to anyone who was in the Cemetery Road area at the time of the incident.
