Floral tributes and heartfelt messages have been left at Kingsbury Water Park in Warwickshire for a 15-year-old girl who died after being pulled from the water on the hottest day of the year. The tragedy occurred on Bank Holiday Sunday, May 25, 2025, just after 6pm, when emergency services were called to the beauty spot off Bodymoor Heath Lane.
Despite efforts from paramedics, the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene. As news of the incident spread on Tuesday, May 26, well-wishers gathered at the bridge over the River Tame to leave bouquets and comfort one another. One poignant note attached to a bouquet read: 'Always in our hearts Lil missing you most beautiful.'
Emergency Response
West Midlands Ambulance Service reported that they were called to the scene near the junction of Coventry Road and Mill Crescent at 6.07pm. One ambulance, two paramedic officers, the Trust’s Hazardous Area Response Team, and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance all attended. Fire and police colleagues also assisted in rescuing the teenager from the water, but despite immediate treatment, she could not be saved.
Police Investigation
Atherstone and Coleshill Police confirmed that the girl's body was recovered from the water shortly after 7.20pm. Her next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers. The force stated: 'Over the coming days, we'll have officers in the area providing reassurance, so if you have any questions, please speak to them. An investigation into the circumstances has begun and we'd ask people to avoid speculation about what happened. Our thoughts remain with her family and friends during this difficult time.'
The incident occurred during a record-breaking heatwave, with temperatures soaring as high as 34°C on Monday. Kingsbury Water Park is a popular destination for families and visitors, and the tragedy has prompted renewed calls for water safety awareness, especially during hot weather.
