Police in Staffordshire have uncovered a cache of weapons and a significant sum of money during a targeted raid on a property in Tamworth, leading to an arrest for suspected drug offences.
Weapons and Cash Discovered in Bolehall Raid
The operation was carried out by officers from Staffordshire Police's major and organised crime proactive team. They executed a search warrant at an address in the Bolehall area of Tamworth on Monday, December 22.
During the search, police discovered a machete, a BB gun, and more than £7,000 in cash. The items were seized as part of an investigation into the supply of illegal drugs in the local community.
Man Arrested and Bailed in Cocaine Probe
Following the discovery, a 23-year-old man from Tamworth was arrested at the scene. He was detained on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of cocaine.
The suspect was taken into custody for questioning by detectives. He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries as the investigation progresses.
Ongoing Crackdown on High-Harm Crime
Staffordshire Police stated that the raid forms part of their ongoing Operation Target initiative, which focuses on tackling serious and organised criminal activity. A police spokesperson said the force is "working proactively to investigate high-harm offences".
The spokesperson also revealed the scale of the operation's impact, noting: "Nearly 400 people have been arrested in connection with these offences between July this year and the year before. And more will be coming as we continue to target organised crime in local communities."
The investigation into the suspected cocaine dealing operation in Tamworth remains active.
