Weapons seized after woman threatened with gun in Sandwell

Police have seized a haul of weapons and arrested a man after a woman was reportedly threatened with a gun in Sandwell, West Midlands. The incident occurred near Parkes Street in Smethwick at around 4pm on Wednesday, 24 June.

Arrest and recovery of weapons

Officers responding to the report quickly located a suspect and searched a nearby address, where they discovered a number of air weapons, a knuckle duster, and a quantity of cannabis. A 52-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm, possession of an offensive weapon, and drug possession. He remained in custody for questioning, West Midlands Police confirmed.

Police statement

In a statement, the force said: "We've recovered weapons and arrested a man after responding to a report [that] a woman had been threatened with a gun in Sandwell. We were alerted to a woman being threatened off Parkes Street, Smethwick, at just before 4pm yesterday. We were quickly on the scene and identified a suspect, with a search of a nearby address leading to a number of air weapons, a knuckle duster and some cannabis being recovered. A 52-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm, possession of an offensive weapon and having drugs. He remains in custody for questioning."
