A woman bombarded her former partner with 150 phone calls in a single day and 750 in a week during a campaign of harassment. Mold Crown Court heard that Demi Davies also made false allegations about her ex-partner after their 10-year relationship ended in July 2024.
Prosecuting barrister Laura Knightly described the atmosphere between the pair as "tense" following the separation. The victim moved back to his parents' home with his siblings, while Davies remained in their shared property.
On July 8, 2024, the victim returned to the couple's home to collect their shared dog, which sparked a row. He placed the dog in his car, but Davies ran ahead and struck his vehicle with a toy tractor, leaving a dent. As he attempted to drive away, she hit the car once more.
In November 2024, Davies contacted the victim's father, enquiring when he would collect the children. When his response failed to satisfy her, she reported the matter to police and made unfounded allegations of blackmail and sexual misconduct. On a separate occasion, she accused him of being romantically involved with another woman.
Ms Knightly said the former partner continued to receive calls from an unrecognised number, which he believed to be Davies, amounting to approximately 750 calls across a two-week period. On a single day alone, 154 calls were made. The ordeal left him feeling stressed and anxious; he simply "wanted to be left alone."
In January 2025, Davies made threats to her former partner's father concerning the victim, warning that he would be hurt. The threats included "I'll bomb your house down" and "watch your f*****g back," along with a reference to pouring petrol.
During February 2025, she also emailed her ex-partner to warn he would never see the children again. She was subsequently arrested and bailed, yet continued to make contact with the victim. In April, Davies rang him dozens of times over several days, leading to a further arrest and bail.
Davies, 33, of Victoria Crescent, Pontybodkin, pleaded guilty to criminal damage, sending an indecent and inappropriate communication, sending a threatening communication, and two charges of harassment without violence. The offences took place in Pontybodkin, Flintshire.
The court was told that Davies, represented by Patrick Gartland, had entered early guilty pleas and was in an emotional state at the time of the offences. She had no prior convictions.
Recorder Gregory Bull branded her conduct "nothing short of disgraceful." He said: "You made a number of hurtful allegations against him, bombarded him with telephone calls and damaged his car." He noted she had "lost her temper and taken it out on him," though the pre-sentence report indicated there was a lot that "could be said in her favour."
Judge Bull handed down a total sentence of 12 months in prison, suspended for 18 months. Davies was additionally given a rehabilitation activity requirement of up to 25 days and ordered to complete 120 hours of unpaid work. She must also pay £1,026 in compensation for the damage caused, along with a surcharge.
Davies was further handed a restraining order prohibiting her from contacting or approaching the victim for 10 years, with the exception of communication through third parties regarding the children. "You are on a knife edge. Take this chance well," the judge remarked.
