Worcester Man Appears in Court Over Alleged Antisemitic and Racist Social Media Activity
A 60-year-old man from Worcester has appeared in court facing multiple charges related to alleged antisemitic and racist posts on social media platforms. Wayne Munden stood in the dock at the Old Bailey in London to confirm his identity during a hearing on Friday, February 27.
Charges Include Stirring Racial Hatred and Distributing Terrorist Material
Munden is charged with eight counts of publishing material intended to stir up racial hatred. Additionally, he faces three counts of distributing terrorist material, which includes a video of the Christchurch extreme right-wing terrorist attack.
Prosecutor Ben Isaacs informed the court that the alleged offenses are connected to Munden's activities on social media. According to the prosecution, he posted a series of memes, messages, and other content that demonstrate extreme right-wing ideology.
His particular ire is directed towards Jewish people and black people, Isaacs stated. It is further alleged that Munden distributed posters describing London nail bomber David Copeland as a 'saint'.
Case Timeline and Legal Proceedings
The alleged offenses are said to have occurred between January 2023 and May 2024. Following the hearing, Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb ordered that the case be transferred to Birmingham Crown Court for further proceedings.
A plea hearing is scheduled to take place on June 9, with a provisional trial date set for August 2028. Despite the serious charges, Munden was granted continued bail pending future court appearances.
The defendant, who has tattoos covering his face and hands, remains at large under bail conditions as the legal process continues to unfold.
