Birmingham Islamic Girls School Faces Closure Over £93k Deficit

Campaigners have launched a fundraiser in a desperate bid to save an all-girls Islamic school in Birmingham from closure. Jami'ah Khadijatul Kubra, based in Small Heath, was founded in 2016 and is one of few schools in the city offering full-time Islamic education specifically for girls.

According to campaigners, the Dixon Road school has not been financially viable for years due to low student numbers, leaving it at risk of closing for good. The school says it has a £93,261 deficit for the current year.

Fundraising Campaign

A GoFundMe page with a £93,000 target to clear the deficit has been set up in a bid to save the school. More than £4,400 has been raised so far. The school wrote on the fundraising page: "We are facing a heartbreaking reality. Jami'ah Khadijatul Kubra is not financially viable and has not been so for a number of years. The student numbers are low, and the fees received from students has left a deficit of £93,261 for the current year. This is an amount that stands between continuity and closure."

The school added: "Without urgent support, this institution, which has nurtured so many students and future leaders, may no longer be able to continue. This is more than just a school. It is a home for students who have committed themselves to the path of knowledge. It is a space where lifelong bonds are formed, where faith is strengthened, and where futures are shaped."

School's History and Mission

Jami'ah Khadijatul Kubra was founded in 2016, and for the past decade, staff have been dedicated to delivering the Aalimiyyah course to students. The school describes itself as "a sanctuary where young women dedicate themselves to seeking Islamic knowledge, building character, and preparing to serve their communities." With a curriculum rooted in Islamic education, the all-girls madrasah has helped shape the Muslimahs of the institute.

Campaigners are urging the community to donate to save the school, which they say is a beacon of knowledge and a vital institution for generations to come.
