An inquest into the death of a 16-year-old boy found dead at his home in Staffordshire has been opened. Jayden Chapman was tragically discovered by a relative at his residence in Stoke-on-Trent on April 22.
Inquest Opening Details
At the inquest opening, Senior Coroner for Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, Fiona Gingell, confirmed that medical evidence will be gathered ahead of a full hearing. She stated: "Jayden Chapman very sadly died at home and identification has been confirmed to my office. Jayden was formally identified following his death. The death was reported to my office by Dr Eckson, a doctor at the hospital."
The coroner added: "It is my duty to open an inquest. Directions have already been made for the provision of evidence, namely from Jayden's GP, a report from the child and adolescent mental health service, information which the family wish to share with me, and evidence from Staffordshire Police in regards to their investigation."
Condolences and Adjournment
Ms Gingell expressed her condolences: "I would like to take this opportunity to offer my personal and sincere condolences to Jayden's family in respect of their tragic loss."
The inquest has been adjourned to allow further investigations to be carried out. A review is scheduled for June 24, ahead of a final hearing.
