A dramatic new landmark has emerged on the Liverpool skyline with the successful completion of the 31-storey Lighthaus Tower at Princes Dock. This significant milestone represents a major leap forward for the extensive Liverpool Waters regeneration project, a long-term initiative dedicated to revitalising the city's historic northern docklands.
A New Residential Beacon
The striking new tower offers 278 buy-to-rent apartments, comprising a mix of studio, one, two, and three-bedroom flats designed for modern living. Residents will benefit from a suite of premium amenities, including a fully-equipped fitness centre, dedicated co-working spaces, a comfortable residents' lounge, and a round-the-clock concierge service. A standout feature is the sky lounge, which provides breathtaking, panoramic views across the city and the iconic River Mersey.
This development is a joint venture between several prominent firms: Toronto-based Starlight Investments, X1 Developments, Vermont Construction, and Peel Waters, with Vermont leading the construction efforts.
Catalysing the Princes Dock Community
Lighthaus is the latest residential development to reach completion within the burgeoning Princes Dock neighbourhood. The area is rapidly establishing itself as a vibrant hub, now boasting over 1,000 completed homes and thousands of workers on site.
The district's appeal is further enhanced by key attractions such as the Liverpool Cruise Port, the Isle of Man Ferry terminal, and the unique Wyld Sauna – the UK's first public floating sauna experience. Adding to its international profile, Princes Dock has been announced as the location for Great Britain's first floating Padel tennis courts, scheduled to open in spring 2026.
Building Futures as well as Buildings
Beyond its physical contribution to the cityscape, the Lighthaus project has created substantial opportunities for local people. Throughout the construction phase, the project generated a pipeline of employment, including full-time jobs, apprenticeships, and placements for students through the onsite City of Liverpool Construction Academy.
Chris Capes, Development Director at Peel Waters, commented on the achievement: "This accomplishment reflects our long-standing partnership... Lighthaus demonstrates the strong appeal of Liverpool Waters as a destination for international investors, reinforcing confidence in our vision. With more residential developments, new public spaces, and vibrant amenities on the horizon, Liverpool Waters is shaping up to be one of the most exciting waterfront communities in the UK."
Echoing this sentiment, Mark Connor, CEO of Vermont, stated: "This project underscores Liverpool Waters' growing reputation among global investors... it has also allowed Vermont and their supply chain to develop local skills and training opportunities."
The successful delivery of Lighthaus Tower not only provides high-quality rental homes but also solidifies Liverpool's position as a key city for investment and urban regeneration, promising an exciting future for its historic waterfront.
