Emergency services were called to a house fire in Oldbury on Friday evening, July 10, at around 8.40pm. The blaze, which affected the garden and living room of a two-storey property on Dudley Road East, left a man and two children with serious injuries.
Casualties taken to hospital
Paramedics rushed a boy and a girl to Birmingham Children’s Hospital, while the man was taken to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital. All three were conveyed under emergency driving conditions after receiving specialist trauma care at the scene. Two additional casualties were treated for smoke inhalation.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "On arrival crews found a boy, who had sustained serious injuries, he received specialist trauma care. A girl was also treated for serious injuries before both children were conveyed to Birmingham Children’s Hospital under emergency driving conditions. A man was also treated for serious injuries and conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital under emergency driving conditions."
Fire believed accidental
The fire was believed to have started accidentally, according to the West Midlands Fire Service. Firefighters used four hose reels to extinguish the flames, which were confirmed out by 9.45pm. However, crews remained at the scene damping down until 1.35am the following morning.

Firefighters used four hose reels to extinguish this fire, which was confirmed to be out at around 9.45pm. Three casualties are believed to have been conveyed to hospital by paramedics for further treatment. A further two casualties were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene. Police colleagues were also in attendance. We scaled down our resources to one fire engine at around 10.30pm, with the final crew leaving this incident after damping down at 1.35am."
Ongoing investigation
Police also attended the scene. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, though initial indications suggest it was accidental. No further details on the condition of the injured have been released.
