Police have confirmed that the death of a woman whose body was pulled from a canal in Walsall is not being treated as suspicious.

Incident Details

West Midlands Police launched an investigation after a body was recovered from the water in Wolverhampton Street, Walsall, in the early hours of Sunday morning (3 May). Following enquiries, officers stated they are not treating the death as suspicious and will refer the case to the coroner.

Police Statement

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "We started an investigation after the death of a woman who was pulled from a canal in Wolverhampton Street, Walsall, on Sunday morning (3 May). Following enquiries we are not treating the death as suspicious, and a file is now being prepared for the coroner. Our thoughts remain with her loved ones at this terrible time."

Ambulance Service Response

A spokesman from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a patient in the water on Marsh Lane, Walsall at 1.15am on Sunday. Two ambulances, two paramedic officers and a MERIT trauma doctor attended the scene. On arrival we discovered one patient, a woman. Ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support but sadly, it became apparent nothing could be done to save the woman and she was confirmed dead at the scene."

The case has now been prepared for the coroner, and the woman's family are being supported by officers.
