As winter approaches, a leading animal charity is making an urgent appeal for loving families to offer forever homes to more than fifty dogs currently in its care.
Over 50 Dogs Awaiting Their Second Chance
Dogs Trust Kenilworth has revealed it is currently caring for over 50 dogs and puppies hoping to be adopted across Birmingham, Coventry, Solihull, and Wolverhampton. The centre, which published its appeal in early November 2025, highlighted that the festive season could be made brighter for both a family and a dog in need.
The dogs range from energetic young puppies to calm senior companions, each with their own personality and ready to bring immense joy to a new household. In a particularly heart-wrenching case, one resident has been waiting for a new home for more than 1,000 days – nearly three years.
Meet Some of the Dogs Looking for Love
Here is a closer look at just a few of the many dogs hoping this winter will be their last in kennels.
Flossie is a sweet-natured dog who has overcome a difficult start in life. She adores her toys and is a big fan of a classic game of fetch. Once she feels settled, she enjoys nothing more than rolling in the grass and receiving plenty of cuddles. She would be best suited to a calm home with teenagers aged 16 and over who can recognise when she needs some quiet time.
Reign is a beautiful dog with a playful yet sensitive character. While she may seem confident initially, she is still learning to trust people and is looking for a quiet, adult-only home. She loves adventurous walks where she can explore new smells, but her absolute passion is for toys, with which she is completely obsessed.
Milo (reference 1211712) is a seven-year-old Bichon Frisé searching for a peaceful, adult-only home where he can feel secure. He enjoys gentle walks and spending quiet time in a garden, and is making excellent progress with his training. Milo would thrive in a non open-plan, calm house and could potentially live with another calm dog.
Effie is a five to seven-year-old Foxhound (reference ID: 1234822). This medium-sized female needs a very specific home environment with no other pets and no children.
How You Can Help
These four dogs represent just a fraction of the canine companions waiting for a fresh start. The charity emphasises that every dog deserves a loving home, and that the right match can bring immeasurable happiness to a family.
Prospective adopters are encouraged to browse all the available dogs on the Dogs Trust website to see if they can offer the perfect forever home. With the days growing colder, there has never been a better time to welcome a loyal friend into your life.
