Birmingham Aunt Paralyzed After Stair Fall, Family Launches Fundraiser

A Birmingham family is rallying to support a relative who was paralyzed for life after a devastating fall at her home in Chelmsley Wood. Jane Cousins, aged 60, suffered a severe spinal fracture in October 2025 when she tumbled down her stairs, landing on her face and sustaining injuries that have left her permanently paralyzed.

Life-Altering Accident and Medical Prognosis

Doctors have informed Jane that she will never walk again, and she has also lost the use of her hands, significantly impacting her independence. The mother-of-one remains hospitalized, with hopes of returning home by the end of the month if her condition stabilizes. Her niece, Krystal White, 35, described the incident as horrendous but expressed gratitude that Jane survived the fall, stating, "Glory to God she is still alive after the fall she took."

Fundraiser for Home Adaptations and Equipment

Krystal, a mother-of-three, has initiated a crowdfunding campaign to raise money for essential home adaptations and medical equipment. The funds will cover costs such as mobility aids and modifications to make Jane's living environment accessible. Krystal emphasized that all proceeds will directly support Jane's needs, saying, "Money raised will be going on equipment she needs and home adaptations. All proceeds will go towards what she needs."
