Meghan Markle Joins 2016 Throwback Trend Amid Harry's Court Date
Meghan's 2016 Throwback as Harry Prepares for Court

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, has shared a nostalgic glimpse into her early relationship with Prince Harry, joining a popular social media trend just days before the Duke is scheduled to appear in a London court.

A Nostalgic Instagram Post

On her Instagram account, Meghan posted a tender video of herself and Prince Harry dancing barefoot on grass, holding hands and spinning together. The clip was credited to their daughter, Princess Lilibet, who filmed the moment. The video was set to the song So Easy (To Fall In Love) by Olivia Dean.

Alongside the video, the Duchess appeared to participate in the viral '2016 throwback trend', where users post images from a decade ago. She shared a separate photograph of the couple with their arms around each other, standing in water outdoors. The pair's caption read: “When 2026 feels just like 2016… you had to be there. cred: our daughter.”

Timing Ahead of Legal Proceedings

The personal post comes at a significant moment for Prince Harry's ongoing legal battles. He is expected to appear at the High Court in London next week to give evidence in his legal action against Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL), the publisher of the Daily Mail.

Harry and a group of six other high-profile claimants, including Sir Elton John, Baroness Doreen Lawrence, and actress Sadie Frost, allege that ANL carried out or commissioned unlawful activities. These alleged activities include:

  • Hiring private investigators to place listening devices in cars.
  • "Blagging" or illegally obtaining private records.
  • Accessing and intercepting private phone conversations.

According to a draft trial timetable seen recently, Prince Harry is expected to give evidence lasting a full day next Thursday.

A Look Back to 2016

The year 2016 holds special significance for the couple, as it is when they first met. Their relationship reportedly blossomed quickly, and they famously travelled to Botswana for their third date. The recent social media posts offer a poignant, personal counterpoint to the very public legal challenges the Duke of Sussex continues to face in the UK.
