Mr Dennington had been reported missing by his family in May 2020 after he was last seen at Kings Mill Hospital before being discharged. An extensive police investigation at the time failed to locate him.
Investigation Ongoing
Nottinghamshire Police confirmed that a file has been prepared for the coroner, and they are awaiting the final post-mortem findings. Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.
Family Tributes
Two of Mr Dennington's children have paid tribute to him. His son said: "For many years, I’ve looked up to you. You had a good heart and always cared for those around you. I remember growing up as a kid, walking to the shops with you. You’d make me laugh and give me a hand full of change to buy sweets. There are so many fond memories that I share with you. There were many things I wanted to show you throughout my journey in life, and many things I won’t be able to now. But I know you’ll be looking down and watching over us, wanting the very best for your family. Love you, Dad. Until we meet again, keep my seat warm in heaven."
His daughter added: "Dad, it's strange and impossible to put into words what we are feeling. For years you were our dad. Dad, you shaped part of who we are today. Rest in peace, love you."
