Ant and Dec console tearful veteran on Limitless Win Christmas special
Veteran in tears on ITV's Limitless Win Christmas special

Hosts Ant and Dec were required to offer comfort and tissues to an emotional contestant during the Christmas special of ITV's high-stakes quiz show, Limitless Win.

A Tearful Start to the Game

The programme, which offers an unlimited jackpot, returned to screens on Saturday night for a festive edition. Among the participants was Nigel Seaman, 52, an ex-soldier who was assisted by former footballer Jamie Redknapp.

Before the game could commence, a video montage began to play, featuring tributes from Nigel's friends and family. The footage highlighted his work founding the coffee business Combat2Coffee, which supports fellow veterans dealing with mental health issues and PTSD.

Overwhelmed by the messages of praise, Nigel broke down in tears. As he wept, Ant and Dec gently asked him, "Do you want to play Limitless Win?" Nigel replied, "When I stop crying I will," before briefly leaving the stage to compose himself.

Hosts Step In With Support

Seeing his distress, the presenting duo immediately sprang into action. "We need to wipe away the tears from his eyes," Ant said. Dec then asked the crew, "Has anybody got any tissues?" ensuring they were on hand to help their contestant.

When Nigel returned to the stage, Ant checked in with him, asking, "Have you stopped crying?" Nigel responded with good humour, saying, "I have but don't set me off again." The moment showcased the hosts' characteristic empathy and the show's supportive atmosphere.

A Life-Changing Win

Despite the emotional start, Nigel went on to successfully tackle the Limitless Ladder. His efforts were rewarded with a substantial cash prize of £30,000.

Speaking after his win, Nigel described feeling both "humble and elated." He expressed his deep gratitude, stating, "Thirty grand is a lot of money, and I appreciate this and thank you for what you've done for me. I mean that."

He explained the significant impact the money would have, revealing that he had invested his personal savings into his veteran-focused venture. "I put my savings into Combat2Coffee," he said. "It'll help my kids a little bit as well." The win promises to bolster both his family's security and his mission to support other veterans through his business.
