A BBC presenter has been found to have made numerous misogynistic remarks on social media, referring to women as 'slags', 'sluts', 'psychos' and 'bitches'. Ashley Cain, a former footballer from Nuneaton, is the host of the BBC Three documentary series Ashley Cain: Into the Danger Zone, which was recently renewed for a second series.
History of Offensive Posts
According to an investigation by The Guardian, Cain's X (formerly Twitter) account contains a history of degrading comments about women. In 2014, he told a female user to 'go and choke on a cock you slut' after misinterpreting her tweet as homophobic. In 2015, he wrote to another woman: 'The only thing that's desperate around here is your pictures with your shit tits. Now suck a dick, and fuck off.'
The newspaper reports that there are dozens of similar posts still publicly available on his profile.
BBC Response
A BBC spokesperson stated: 'We are very clear we expect the highest standards of behaviour from everyone who works with or for the BBC. When allegations are brought to our attention we take them seriously. We will consider this information carefully and do not intend to comment further at this stage.'
A source confirmed that the BBC was previously unaware of Cain's social media activity.
Rising Star
Cain has become a rising star at the BBC, praised for his ability to connect with young male audiences. His series involves traveling to dangerous locations and interviewing marginalized young men.
Cain has not responded to multiple requests for comment from The Guardian.
